Our first step is to sit down with you and talk. You can tell us how you want to create a meaningful Memorial Event. Whether you're pre planning or need help right away, we're here for you.
Things you need to know to plan a memorial service in Winnipeg
Here is how we help. There are a few necessary tasks that we will perform:
- Collecting Vital Statistics to register the death.
- Preparing Canada Pension Plan applications for the Death Benefit and Survivor’s pensions
- Ordering the necessary Proofs of Death (funeral home and Province of Manitoba)
- Preparing the Burial Permit (Province of Manitoba)
- Doing the removal from place of death (mileage applies beyond Winnipeg's Perimeter Highway)
- Taking care of the cremation (with the deceased in a cardboard container)
- Providing the guest book
- Arranging the graveside service, if there is one (including calling the cemetery and arranging family appointments)
What the graveside service looks and sounds like is really up to you. We have helped organize a large variety of different kinds of memorial services, and we're happy to share our insight and experience with you. Whether you are looking for a traditional memorial or something very unique, we would be honoured to help.
If your loved one is being cremated, we will talk about selecting a suitable urn. You can purchase one through us or another source. Or, if you have something special that you'd like to use, we can let you know if it will work.
It could be just about anything: hockey skates, decorative boxes, teapots, artillery shells, vases, toolboxes, etc. As long as the receptacle is large enough and can close securely, we can probably make it work.
We can also provide other services, including:
- Putting the obituary in the paper
- Talking with the service officiant
- Arranging your favourite music, food, flowers, etcetera
- Printing memorial cards or bulletins
- Preparing video tributes and/or webcasting
- And anything else that is special and important
It just depends on your needs and plans.
